Those in need of treatment for substance use disorder will probably need to go through detox and enter inpatient treatment. While this sort of treatment is often necessary for recovery, it also means that patients must put their lives on hold while they are in therapy. Naturally, one of the questions we frequently get asked is how long does inpatient treatment last. We’re here to shed some light on that subject, and explain how treatment works in our Boynton Beach rehab facility. However, if you still have any questions, feel free to call us and we’ll explain everything to you in detail.

What Kinds of Addiction do We Treat in Bright Futures?

Although there are similarities between patients suffering from substance use disorder, the main differences stem from the substances being abused. Depending on the substance in question, the duration of detox, as well as withdrawal, can greatly vary. Obviously, there are going to be other differences as well. Therefore, there is no universal answer to how long inpatient treatment last. We believe that we should begin our discussion with the types of addictions treated in the Bright Futures rehab center.

The most commonly treated types of addiction are:

  • Alcohol addiction. Unfortunately, alcohol addiction is widespread due to the fact that it is legal to purchase and socially acceptable to drink. You can receive alcohol rehab in our facility and get rid of your addiction.
  • Heroin addiction. Heroin is made from morphine and is considered to be a Schedule I drug. At our facility we offer heroin rehab with a high success rate.
  • Crack cocaine addiction. Crack is probably one of the most popular recreational drugs. Fortunately, you can receive treatment for addiction to cocaine and crack cocaine.
  • Meth addiction. Persons suffering from addiction to artificial stimulants should immediately enter meth rehab. Meth comes from the amphetamine family of drugs and is highly addictive.
  • Prescription drug addiction. Although they are often prescribed by medical professionals, drugs such as Oxycodone and Adderall can lead to addiction. Thankfully, we can offer you prescription drug rehab.

What Are the Stages of Treatment?

We understand that individuals might just be interested to know how long does inpatient treatment last. However, inpatient treatment is just one of the stages of addiction treatment that we provide in Bright Futures. In order to attend inpatient treatment in our Palm Beach facility, patients must first complete detox. It should be noted that, if you complete your detox elsewhere, you can attend our inpatient program.

Here are the stages of treatment available at Bright Futures:

  • Detoxification. Before patients can begin their inpatient treatment programs, they must first rid their bodies of toxins. This is the first step in your journey to recovery.
  • Inpatient treatment. We offer our patients Day/Night with community housing. This is where your true healing can begin. You will get to take part in therapeutic activities and learn important skills, which are vital to your recovery.
  • Intensive outpatient program (IOP). In this part of your recovery, you will attend IOP Palm Beach group therapy sessions several times a week. You will also have individual therapist’s sessions.
  • Outpatient program. Similarly to the IOP, you will attend weekly group therapy and individual sessions. Patients are encouraged to find employment, and you will be provided with a sponsor to guide you through the 12 steps program.
  • Aftercare. Our therapists will help provide you with support even after you complete your programs in rehab.

Every stage of treatment comes with its own challenges, and occasionally patients may feel they are not ready for the next program. In these situations patients may step back to a previous program. We also have a transitional, hybrid Florida model program intended for patients who have completed their inpatient treatment. Patients who aren’t confident in their progress may stay in the Florida model before moving on to IOP.

How We Determine What Treatments are Right for Our Patients

When our patients first reach out to us, we perform an initial assessment which is free of charge. Here we will ask you questions about your current condition and the state of your substance use disorder. All of the information you give us will, of course, remain confidential. After the initial assessment, we’ll have a better idea of what kind of treatment is best suited to your needs. This is where we can give you an estimate of how long does inpatient treatment last for your specific situation.

Keep in mind that every patient has their own specific needs when it comes to treatment. For this reason our therapists create personalized addiction treatment programs for each individual client. Additionally, patients progress through our stages of treatment at their own pace. This means that not every patient will complete the same program in the exact same timeframe. The progress of individual patients will be monitored by our highly trained clinicians. They will be there during every step of your journey offering their support and guidance. As patients advance through their programs, they will also learn plenty of useful skills and coping mechanisms. One of our main goals is to equip patients with the confidence, knowledge and self-sufficiency to lead healthy lifestyles.

How Long Does Inpatient Treatment Last

By now you should have a better idea of how treatment functions in our Palm Beach facility. You probably also realize that there is no universal and exact time that can be given for any patients recovery. That being said, we can help you with some estimates. If you want to know how long does inpatient treatment last for the average patient – the answer would be between 30 and 45 days.

After patients finish with their detox, they can begin their inpatient treatment. However, detox isn’t the only physically demanding stage of treatment. Patients will soon experience withdrawal symptoms and cravings. For this reason, we offer our patients a partial hospitalization program Florida where their physical and mental symptoms can be treated. This form of treatment is less intensive than inpatient treatment, and is intended for patients on their way to IOP.

Like we previously mentioned, the time of stay for inpatient treatment will be at least 30 days. This is considered to be a short-term residential treatment. However, there are also alternatives that last longer. Unfortunately, these are a bit harder to estimate and if you want to know the how long does inpatient treatment last for the long-term options, we suggest giving us a call and discussing the details of your substance use issues. Based on the severity of the addiction and the progress the patient is making, long-term inpatient treatment could range from 90 even up to 200 days.

How to Get Time Off From Work for Inpatient Treatment?

Sadly, for some even taking 30 days away from work for their recovery might seem almost impossible. Fortunately, the law is on your side and you may be able to use FMLA to get leave. Under the Family Medical and Leave Act you are guaranteed to 12 weeks of unpaid and job-protected leave. You can use that time to enter rehab and undergo inpatient treatment. We suggest contacting your HR department for help in organizing the paperwork for your leave.

Additionally, the Americans with Disabilities Act will guarantee that you cannot be discriminated at work if you aren’t actively using drugs. Keep in mind that certain employers might have stipulations written into your job contracts. It would be best that you review your contract and consult a professional before attempting to take any legal action.

When you do get time off work, it might still be difficult to manage your career and private life while you are away in rehab. There will definitely be a disruption to your life if you leave for an extended time. However, that still represents a much better alternative than avoiding rehab and only sinking deeper into addiction. Substance use disorder is a progressive disease, and if left untreated it is guaranteed to spiral out of control. The resulting damage to your professional and personal life could end up costing you much more than the time you spend in rehab. Not to mention that addiction can also have lasting consequences on your physical and mental health. While, the law is there to help you protect your job, you can consider having a heart to heart conversation with your loved ones.
