FDA approves new dangerous drug ‘Dsuvia’

Just when we thought the drug epidemic could get no worse. As of November 2^nd, 2018 The Food and Drug Administration approved Dsuvia. Dsuvia is a form of Sufentanil a synthetic opioid 10 times stronger than fentanyl found in epidurals. Although this drug has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, chairman Dr. Raeford Brown has written a concerning letter. He states that the drug is extremely divertible and predicts that we will encounter diversion, abuse and even deaths within the early months of being available on the market. Which will be sometime in the first few months of 2019. After final approval Dr. Scott Gottlieb the FDA commissioner released a statement defending the FDA’s decision. He explains the drug is a pre-filled single dose applicator and will only be available for use in hospitals, surgical centers, and other medically supervised facilities. The FDA states the drug is particularly for soldiers who are wounded on the battlefield who don’t have access to intravenous painkillers. Apparently, Dsuvia will not be dispensed to pharmacies and will only be administered by health care providers. The providers administering the drug will have to follow a safety program monitoring distribution and auditing the seller’s data. This program will help monitor the use and make sure the hospitals and other health care facilities are using the drug properly and accordingly
