Group Therapy

Information On How Group Therapy Works

At Bright Futures Treatment Center group therapy is a therapeutic session with multiple people taking part in the discussion. All group therapy sessions are led by qualified experts who have experience in substance abuse recovery. During group therapy sessions the group leader will have a topic and have the client interact based on the group topic. One of the main goals of these groups is to strengthen interpersonal relationships while learning skills based on the topic. Seeing other people with similar experiences and struggles helps in sharing one’s thoughts and feelings.
Group therapy is widely used within the field of therapy because it helps clients who are engaged in it. Not only does group sessions give the individual hope, it also helps with socializing techniques, emotional support, and building a community. Since the group settings are safe setting, patients are more likely to speak about their fears, anxieties, and other issues. Some of our group therapies include:

Benefits of Group Therapy

The power of the group dynamic, where peer interaction allows growth, is essential in helping the recovering addict learn to live as part of a healthy community. Group therapy sessions help the individual prepare for everyday life, and teach the individual healthy communication skills. There are issues that come up in group therapy that are beyond treatment such as work, family, friendship, and relationships. Learning to listen and understand their peers is something they can use in everyday life.
